Auto Mechanic Advice 2 - Always Tip

Seriously, I highly recommend you tip your car mechanic… and preferably in advance. This could seem a bit counter-intuitive to tip before he performs whatever you want him to fix  on your car but there’s plenty of reasons to do so.

Get more bang for your bucks.

I get that, by tipping him after he has done his magic, you intend to reward him for the good work he has done. The problem with this behavior is that, while he will sure be happy to receive an extra tip, he can’t really give you an extraordinary customer service to thank you because your car is already out of the shop.  Instead of trying to reward him after the job is done, try to tip him before to make sure he gives your car more attention than what you paid for.

Get remembered.

Customers also need to realize that a mechanic works on an incredible amount of different cars every month and it can be very difficult to remember every car and every client. Also, assuming a typical car repair shop customer brings his car in for an oil change or any other maintenance every 3 months or so, it can take a while before your mechanic can remember your name easily.

I can assure you, tipping customers get remembered a lot more quickly!

If you want your car mechanic to care about your car, make sure you care about your mechanic!
